This week, delegates in the Los Angeles County Democratic Party rejected Councilmember Kevin de León’s bid for re-election by choosing to endorse his opponent tenant rights attorney Ysabel Jurado. Kevin didn’t even bother to attend the meeting and instead had someone else read a prepared
statement to the delegates.

The final vote breakdown was:
Kevin de León – 11
Ysabel Jurado – 115
No Endorsement – 17
We can only hope the 11 votes for Kevin were delegates who didn’t get re-elected in March making Tuesday their last meeting and vote.
In the same meeting, Councilmember Heather Hutt prevailed over Grace Yoo and earned the Party’s endorsement as did Pomona City Council candidate Miranda Sheffield. Congrats!
The new delegation gets sworn in July 1 in a ceremony downtown.
